LAist Studios to Launch Norco ’80 Podcast

LAist Studios, the Los Angeles-based podcast studio behind Apple’s Our Favorites Podcast of 2020 selection California Love, is about to launch the next production – Norco ’80.

This limited series true-crime story is based on the bestselling book by Peter Houlahan and hosted by Latino USA producer Antonia Cereijido.  Norco ’80 recounts the events of May 1980 when five heavily-armed young men, inspired by an apocalyptic religious movement, attempted to rob a Southern California bank.  The robbers were discovered, several law enforcement agencies gave chase, and the resulting getaway turned towns along the route into war zones.  Part caper, part human drama, part cautionary tale.

Norco ’80 – launches December 10, 2020.

Publishes weekly.

October 2020 Nielsen Data Shows Radio on the Road to Recovery, Los Angeles Market Rebounding

L.A. Nielsen Audio March - October PPM M-Su 6a-12M / Persons 6+ / Weekly Cume Persons

Los Angeles, November 5, 2020

Maybe you’ve noticed that Southern California roadways are not as smooth-sailing as they were a few months ago?  As people slowly return to work and more typical commute patterns, Nielsen PPM measurement devices are picking up the signal and noting the increase in radio listening.

RadioOnline.com has a great review of Nielsen’s research piece On the Road to Recovery withAM/FM Radio.  We have run this same data for the Los Angeles market across multiple demos.  As you can see, market reach is nearly at pre-pandemic levels with 95% recovery in KPCC’s key demos of A18-49 and A25-54.  Lastly, you’ll see that out-of-home listening is ticking back up…which means you’ll need to add some time to those quick drives to “everywhere” that you have come to enjoy over the past few months.
